Thoughts on Automaton's-from the notebook of P. Adams

This is a short essay on using Clockwork to create automaton’s. We will be looking at the problems and potential solutions to creating automaton’s.

The first problem is creating an artificial intelligence. The Clockwork brain has to be the focal point of the project. While making Clockwork limbs and organs is fine, having worked on the first Clockwork Heart this will not be a problem. The body itself again is not an issue as I can just use the same alloy that I use for the casing of the legs and arms.

What it needs to accomplish.

  1. Need to move freely and independently.

  2. It need to be able to receive and enact orders.

  3. Can’t be given too much intelligence as it could obtain free will and rebel.

  4. Needs to be aesthetically pleasing.

This are the four things that we need to achieve in order to be integrated into society.

Regarding the brain I could speak to Dr. Nightingale he is a doctor who specialised in Neuro Clockwork. He might be able to help. If we can find away to build it then it could be a fun project. It helps he has a thing for me. I should tell Oli, It would drive him mad.

I don't know if they should have a face or not. I don't think its super important but it might make them look more friendly but then again there is the uncanny valley to consider. People, from what I know, don't like that. Oh that reminds me I need to go shopping and get some more Ore for the brass and I need to pick up a new pack of number four cogs for Oli's new heart. If people were to accept these they would need to find them approachable.

These should ONLY be used for basic tasks or constructions.

Anyway these are thoughts for another night I need a drink and I Oli is coming over.
