Greetings
A few weeks ago I came up with the idea to run a game of Pokemon Brilliant Diamond with only Gengar's. Now, this presented a few issues when it came to setting up the game.
Attempt 1:
Download Pokemon Home and transfer all the respective Gengars, Haunters and Gastlys from all my other games and put them into a new BD game.
So I went through the tutorial with Chimchar. I get to the first Poke-Center and take the Pokemon out of the box and I was good to go. Or so I thought. I completely forgot that there is a level cap so NONE of my Pokemon would do as they were told. Back to the drawing board.
So I went away and thought. Then it hit me. Breeding. I had two Haunters male and female. So once again I restarted the game.
Attempt 2 (Set up) :
This was the first time that I had played Pokemon without the intention of finishing this run. The biggest problem I came up against was I had to play the story before I could get to the Nursery. So I played through the game until I could get there. Then after spending a few hours running through the story I made it.
I bred 6 perfectly healthy LV1 Ghastlys. About halfway through I realised I had forgotten to Nickname them. So I had to head back to Eternia City to get the names changed.
Clive
Big Steve
Gast
Astly
EDDBOI
Shabo.
I quickly levelled them up so they wouldn't be at LV1 when the new game started.
Attempt 3 (The Run) :
I have started the run and come up against a few problems. The first is that Normal Types are immune to almost all Ghost Type moves, and the first pokemon you come up against is, you guessed it, Normal Types. But I managed to get through the Normal Type Trainers. The second problem is that when my army of the dead reached LV11 they would sometimes refuse my orders.
So after doing a bit of digging I found out that it is at the second gym where you get the level response upgrade. Anyway now I have a bunch of Sasstly's until I get to the second gym. YAY
P.S
Just because this came out literally as I was writing this post. Here is the trailer for Scarlet and Violet.
