Greetings.
This week was hard. I found it hard to hit the word count and I even had to take a day off. But this is a marathon, not a sprint. I have had to remind myself of that. As of yesterday (the halfway mark) I hit 15000 words, about 10000 words from where I should be. I have also had a visit from the Fraud Police (don't worry not the legal kind). For all those who aren't aware of what they are, I will give you this quote from the Amazing Amanda Palmer.
“The Fraud Police are the imaginary, terrifying force of 'real' grown-ups who you believe - at some subconscious level - are going to come knocking on your door in the middle of the night, saying: We've been watching you, and we have evidence that you have NO IDEA WHAT YOU'RE DOING. These guys come along and make me feel shit for feeling shit about this very cool job that I have. I mean I get to tell stories for a living. I am my own boss. Beholden only to myself. But that's the worst part, I am a terrible boss, I'm way harder on myself than I should be. I decided I needed a day off. So instead of bending to the whims of an imaginary force, I put myself first (It helped that I had a baby appointment in the middle of the day and then something in the evening.) So while this week was hard and I am not where I wanted to be, I am still so proud of what I have written (15000 words is nothing to sneeze at) I am also proud of acknowledging that self-care is important because I often forget to look after me.
