Greetings
Doctor Who has played such a big part of my life. Even when it comes to Clockwork, The works of all of those great writers especially Russel T Davis have expanded my imagination so much that I created my own story. So it seemed only right that todays blog post is dedicated to the great man Bernard Cribbins. So this is kind of an open letter to him.
Dear Bernard.
When I first saw you in the Voyage of the Dammed I had no idea how much your character of Wilf would impact my life. Watching Doctor Who was something me and my mum did before she passed away. Unfortunately she passed before getting to see you in your most fantastic of roles. You were the first actor in a tv show that made me cry.
The scene in question is when you are on a ship miles above earth and Wilf and The Doctor are just having a conversation.
Wilf: Do you think he changed them in their graves? The Doctor: I'm sorry. Wilf: Not your fault
The Doctor: Isn't it Wilf: Woof 1948 I was over there end of the mandate in Palestine private Mott. Skinny little idiot I was stood on this rooftop the middle of a skirmish like a blizzard all them bullets in the air, the world gone mad yeah you don't wanna listen to an old man's tales do you?
The Doctor: I'm older than you. Wilf: Get away
The Doctor: I'm 906 Wilf: Oh really though
The Doctor: Yeah
Wilf: 900 years we must look like insects to you.
The Doctor: I think you look like Giants Wilf: There's no listen, I want you to have this, I've kept it all this time and I thought if you take it you could take it.
The Doctor: No. you had that gun in the mansion you could have shot the master there and then. Wilf: To was scared I suppose
The Doctor: I'd be proud Wilf: Of What
The Doctor: If you were my dad
Wilf: Oh come on don't you start. Well you said you were told he will knock four times and then you die well that's him isn't it, the master that noise in his head. The Master is going to kill you.
The Doctor: Yeah Wilf:Then kill him first2 The Doctor: That's how the master started. It's not like I'm an innocent I've taken lives. I got worse I got clever, manipulated people into taking their own sometimes I think a Time Lord lives too long.
[Long pause] I can't. I just can't. Wilf: If the master dies what happens to all the people? Doctor, what happens?
The Doctor: The template snaps
Wilf: They go back to being human.
[The Doctor Nods]They're alive and human.
Then don't you dare Sir. Don't you dare
put him before them. You take this
that's an order Doctor. Take a gun you take the gun and save your life, and
please don't die you're the most wonderful man on earth what you do.
This GODDAMN SCENE even editing the transcript I was welling up. You Bernard were the most wonderful man on the planet and the worlds a 'less strange place now you are not in it.
A loving Fan
Jamie
